Today I surrender :)

Okay so the day started off bad, slept thru the alarm, didn’t get up until my seventh grader needed to be on the bus in 10 minutes … missed the bus.  The kindergarten-er climbed on the bus all by herself without anyone to help her and rode away (me: holding back tears) I got my nail appt time mixed up and came an hour early (I really didn’t mind that part though, I had to run errands anyway).  I missed the kindergarten-er getting off the bus by 2 minutes so she was scared walking down the street all by her lonesome.  I spent who knows how many hours on the phone dealing with people and money (I hate bill paying day) one company we overpaid and they have a 6-8 week policy on refunds (I think I’ll make this my payment policy too) another company said they never received the check (although the bank shows it being cashed two months ago) our water bill went up by $60 per month AND my camera … oh my camera!  I called the company I purchased it from and they said they gave me a contract at the time I purchased the camera (and the “we’ll fix anything that happens to it – 3 year warranty) and that I had to register the warranty within 30 days of purchase … simple problem, I received NO SUCH CONTRACT!   The warranty is up thru Canon (although I can upgrade to a new camera for $1600)

And then, I borrowed a friends camera to take senior pics tonight of one of my favorite gals and found out (a little too late) that it won’t hook up to my off camera flash lights, bummer, so we proceeded without the lights and about 15 shots into the shoot … the battery died and I couldn’t find the replacement :(    AHHHHHHHHH!!!!!  Good thing she is so sweet and we were able to reschedule (I better get my butt together!)  So today … I surrender, the white flag is up and I am going to bed before I hurt, confuse or damage anything else … but before I do :) I’ll share a few of the 15 shots we did get, cuz she is a doll!

Thanks for reading/listening to my rant :) I feel much better, ha ha ha.

Eyelash Extensions by Stevi :)

I had the fun opportunity to take a friend of mine out and try out the new off camera flash on the beach…LOVED IT!  She went and had her eyelashes done by the EVER WONDERFUL ~ Eyelash Extensions by Stevi, image no mascara, no eyelash curler AND still GREAT LASHES!  She does incredible work so check her out!  The funniest story about the last picture!  We were standing on the side of the road, I was having my model try and hitch a ride … just then three young lads (boys around the age of 10) cruised by on their bicycles.  One of them says, just as they are passing by, “I’ll give you a ride!”  HA!  We couldn’t stop laughing, watch out ladies!

My new toys ~ and my pride and joys!

I got a big present in the mail yesterday!  (Ok, well I suppose it doesn’t count as a present when you pay $1000 for it, he he he) but I got all my equipment for the Off Camera Flash!  YAY!  I patiently watch the power unit charge all night long and got chills when the light turned green meaning FULLY CHARGED!  So I tortured my poor children and dragged them out in the field for a little fun. I don’t get their attention for very long, so the pictures aren’t perfect but they are fun :) I am so excited to add this to my “skills” (said in true Napoleon Dynamite Style).  I thought I would be clever and photograph some of the fun things I got while at the Sassy Cupcake Boutique so I added a headband here and a flower there, and for the baby (ok, I know, she’s two) I put on the cutest little diaper cover (way too small for her) and had her hair all done in cute piggies and wouldn’t you know it … 5 seconds later, she has a hat on (courtesy of dad) and is covered in dirt!  Oh well, she’s still cute … more to come but I am UBER excited about this new addition :)

Rock that OCF (Off Camera Flash) with Ali Hohn!

I had the awesome pleasure of attending a workshop with the INCREDIBLE Ali Hohn at one of her Rock that OCF workshops (visit her link, you won’t regret it!)  We had a full day of learning how to use various lighting sources to create breath-taking images all day (that’s right, all day!) It was so neat to be able to shoot all day long with full sun and get great images.  I am very excited about this new path in my photography and will be saving my pennies to buy all the necessary equipment :)   BUT~ you MUST see why!  Here’s my images from the workshop and there are so many fun ones, my favorites came from our evening shoot and you can tell I liked one model in particular but they were all great … to see more images from my experience at the Rock that OCF visit me on FACEBOOK as I posted more there… enjoy … I am :)
